First of all I have been installing and serviceing fire alarms and smoke detectors for years now and Firex is one of the better brands, all detectors have problems form time to time. All 8, The detcetors are wired togeather so if one rings, they all do, that is code. Just replace them. I understand the frustration, but better your child be woken by a false alarm than not woke by a real fire!!!!! Ripping them off is only putting your family in danger, the sooner you replace them the less headache you will have
